Workshop with Lynn Ocone

Lynn Ocone is a Vermont feltmaker who shares her passion for felting through teaching and exhibiting locally and nationally. Her work has been featured in publications such as Fabulous Felted Scarves (Lark Books, 2007); 1000 Artisan Textiles (Quayside Publishing, 2010); and Felt Matters (Journal of the International Feltmakers Association, 2011). Participants can choose attend one or both of the felting workshops.

Day one (June 25): learn the contemporary nuno-felted technique in which wisps of merino wool, silk, mohair locks, and other fiber embellishments are felted into a base of sheer silk gauze. You will explore thickness, texture, and surface design, and by day's end, create a featherweight felt scarf of your own design.
Day two (June 26): create one or two decorative pillow covers while learning felt collage techniques resulting in fabulous patterns and textures. Woven fabrics, designer yarns, and other textural embellishments will be felted into a wool base. Several options for pilow design and construction will be demonstrated.

Workshop days typically begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 5:30 p.m. The final workshop day may end by 3:00 p.m. for early departures.

WORKSHOP FEES: $125 for 1 day or $225 for both days, plus a materials fee depending on what you purchase (i.e. Silk, wool, embellishments)

Meals and overnight accommodations are available for an additional $50 per day for a shared room, that includes 3 meals (small breakfast, soup & sandwich lunch, and a proper dinner - with wine).

You will also receive travel information. A list of nearby Motels and B & B’s is provided for those choosing off-site accommodations.

You will receive a full refund if the class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. No other refunds are issued.

Should the workshop be cancelled, participants will be notified by e-mail no later than 21 days prior to the workshop date.
